Is MS banning foreigners shopping Markets?

It's against the terms and conditions of XBox LIVE to miss-represent yourself.

So you should be shopping in the market where you live.

Microsoft haven't stopped you buying games.

You are upset that a loophole that allowed you to buy games at a much lower price on a foreign market has been closed to you.

You're upset that a loophole that allowed you access to games that weren't available in your region until a later date has been closed to you.

You were never meant to buy your games direct from Hong Kong or India and that's why those markets have been closed to you.

You can't buy there for the same reason the Microsoft Store doesn't undercut the shop prices because if they did... nobody would pay the shop prices and these stores would cease to trade.

You should be grateful you were able to enjoy the discounts you got before all the parties involved besides MS realised this loophole existed and shut it down.

HiKiKoMoRi4EVER that comment was meant for people who travel meaning they would be in those countries at time of purchase but 'home' would be elsewhere

nobody here knows what really MS say about buying in foreing stores. I dont see in terms and conditions of MS nothing about banning for this practice. All of you that say is illegal, can you please show a proof here?

  7. I remember that a bunch of people got banned for changing their region to take advantage of the different games with gold other countries got. Now if that is against the rules, then I don't see how changing your region for cheaper deals is any different?
So maybe MS is just putting something in place to stop it, instead of outright banning a lot of the community.

Though as I understand, offshore distributors don't have to follow the laws of the country, but apparently distributors like steam will remove a game if the classification board in Australia refuse it. So it's hard to say whether this would be the countries
policy or is MS is just bringing it's service more in-line with each region's laws. All speculation on my part.

It's in your terms and conditions of XBox LIVE but if you're still a little unsure...

    Why not talk to Support.

There's a link at the top tab on these boards.

    Tell us what they say.

I spoke to the MS chat in Spain. They told me that if there was a problem with the game they could not bring support to me. I would have to find support in the store where I bought the game. But they did not say anything about bannning or illegal.

  10. From the Xbox Live TOS

1.7. What types of changes can I expect to the Services? We continuously work to improve the Services and may change the Services at any time. Additionally, there are reasons why Microsoft may stop providing portions of the Services, including that it's
no longer feasible for us to provide it, the technology advances, customer feedback indicates a change is needed, our agreements with third parties no longer permit us to make their material available, or external issues arise that
make it imprudent or impractical to continue. We may release the Services or their features in a beta version, which may not work correctly or in the same way the final version may work. We may, among other things: (i) restrict or limit access to the
Services; (ii) retrieve information from the Authorized Device and any connected peripheral device used to log onto the Services as necessary to operate and protect the security of the Services, and to enforce this Agreement; and (iii) upgrade, modify,
withdraw, suspend, or discontinue any functionality or feature of the Services, or any hardware or software associated with the Services or with an Authorized Device, from time to time without notice. We may do so by the automatic download of related
software directly to your Authorized Device, including software that prevents you from accessing the Services, playing pirated games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices.

    And

2.5. What limitations apply to my access and use of Microsoft and third-party content? We may disable access to Microsoft and third-party content associated with your account for any reason. We may also remove or disable games, applications, content, or
Services on your Authorized Device in order to protect the Services, application providers, network operators or any other affected or potentially affected parties. Some content and applications available on the Services may
be unavailable from time to time or may only be offered for a limited time due to contractual or other limitations, such as the region of your account. As such, you may not be able to re-download content or applications or re-stream certain content that you
have purchased; for example, if you change your account to another region you may need to re-purchase content or applications that were available to you and paid for in your previous region. Except to the extent required by applicable
law, we have no obligation to provide a re-download or replacement of any content or application previously purchased. If we receive information from the content owners indicating the dates their content will be unavailable, we will try to share this
    information with you.

In other words, like any other company out there, with a lot of legal Jargon, That most people do not read, when clicking the Terms and conditions button. They can change what they like when they like.

This is not a Microsoft issue. But a company, protecting itself, when it wants to remove certains things from services.

Again, sorry that this has happened, and now you are going to have to find other ways to get your games cheaper, But it has, and there is no redress, as you accepted the TOS when you signed up

Just a question to the Spanish people. Did you change your regions between buys? So you buy a game in HK-store, than change back to Spanish region? If so, the content may be blocked as the person above me states.

Plus, isn't the price difference due to taxes etcetera? I can't imagine developers or MS will get more money for a game bought in EU than for a game bought in US, HK, or whatever...

I don't think you have to change the actual region of your profile to access the foreign marketplace on One, though. Locale is enough this time around. Your profile is still registered to one country while you use the martkeplace of another. I noticed this
when I set up my console and wanted to use English as the language. Locale set to the UK and suddenly prices were in £ even though my profile region stayed as Finland.

No, not strange, It probably seems like good business sense to them. They make more money, because even if people don't like it.

They still want the latest game, and just cannot wait for it to go cheaper.

So in the end, the person will find a way to get that game.............. Your just going to have to be a bit more thrifty with your money, and more choosy with your games. And i am sure you will manage.

Another reason why i go physical...... here in Europe, it's normally always cheaper.

your euro buys more indian currency so how would that be fare to the Indians who also have to save to afford anything off there store. look at it in reverse if Indians tried to purchase something from the Spanish store it would cost them double than there
store due to currency conversion. also governments frown on buying digitally from other countries as they lose a lot of tax.
