Really Microsoft?

I doubt that using a lens cleaner properly would void the warranty. Perhaps the person who originally stated this rumour explained to support that he wanted to use a q-tip or something to clean the lens.

I use a Maxell blu ray lens cleaner.It works in all dvd players,and is a "no touch".Nothing touches the lens,it has holes that blows the laser off as it reads.Drive reads like a champ after two years,longer than any other 360 I've owned.

 

I really don't know how that would be any kind of betrayal.

 

Interesting article though I wouldn't think it's true. I can see Phil wanting a fresh start however. I've had a great ride with the One and if a new console came out in a year I'd greet it with open arms.

 

A console lasting only 3 years would be the betrayal. No one ever buys a console expecting it to last such a short time.

 

it can take upto 2 - 3 years to create an AAA game, if this is going to be the norm for consoles then whats the point, you will get to see 1 of each franchise on the console then have to buy an entire new system to play the next title.

And it can take upto a year or more to get to grips with the system and see what it can really do, and all this talk of new consoles coming out will put devs and publishers off from putting the time and effort into making games for this gen, in essence killing
the current gen stone cold.

It's ok with PC as they can be upgraded when needed, people don't have the disposable income these days to just go out and buy a new console every three years, gaming is a hobby but also an investment, and looking at this investement it is becoming a logical
step to no longer invest.

 

I don't know about you guys, but I certainly already have my monies worth out of my console so whether it be a slimmer version or a completely new console, I'd buy it. I wouldn't feel betrayed or anything either, business is business, you win some and you
lose some.

 

You cannot say "you lose some you win some". You are customer, not a business man. So you cannot lose money in order to lose stuff whatever it is. You have to get something in exchange for your money.

The question is: were you expecting the xbox one to last only 3 years?

Rumors say they are planning to release an updated console to run games more smoothly, which would make our current xbox one run the same games more poorly. They wanna make all games run at 1080p 60fps, but tell me, do we need better games now? Look at Rise
of the Tomb Raider, Forza 6, The Witcher 3 and Quantum Break. Do we need better stuff now? I think we don't.

Developers are lazy to optimize games nowadays, so we see Batman Arkham Knight run poorly on PC, just like a few other games, we see Broforce (YES, BROFORCE) with poor framerate on the PS4, then and we'll get Final Fantasy 15 running porly on consoles because
Square Enix wants to display unnecessary weather effects on the game.

Sony wants to release a PS4K to make the VR goggles possible, just an overpriced unnecessary thing that not many people will be able to buy, and not so many games will support it properly or support it at all. And Microsoft wants to release a new console
for what? This generation is a bad joke.

Phil Spencer, please don't make this mistake!

 

What I mean is, sometimes you spend money on a product or service and you love it (you win some) or it doesn't meet your personally expectations and you're not happy (you lose some). You either cut your losses, accept it or come onto a forum to complain
about it, hehe.

if Xbox thinks they need a new or more powerful console to get ahead in the console market or be on the forefront of VR/Hololens, then I just see that as a business trying to innovate and make the brand more viable to different markets.

I'm happy either way, a more powerful console comes out sooner than expected, cool I'll buy it. If it doesn't I'm still happy and will continue playing on the Xbox One. I actually don't think we'll see anything happen in regards to a new or more powerful
console for long time yet so this is a rather pointless discussion.

 

An upgraded console doesn't mean games will suddenly run "more poorly" on the One. They will run just as they always have, they'll just be better on a new console.

How can someone feel betrayed that a new console came out 4 years after the last console? Is there a rule set in stone that says console makers can only release consoles every 7 -10 years?

By the time that console comes out if true it'll be over 4 1/2 years since the release of the One. I'm sure they will still support the One but for other people like me and Digital we would get the new console. If they made one every year I'd buy it.

 

The original xbox only lasted 4 years or 3 if you lived in certain countries.

They released new versions of the 360 within about 3 years of the original 360 coming out so if they do announce an updated version of the xbox one it shouldn't be a surprise & definitely not a betrayal.

It's not like it'll make the first lot of xbox ones suddenly unusable

I want a new xbox one anyway so i'd get the newer version straight away.

 

Any game made after the next Xbox comes out will be playable on the previous versions of Xbox. They are not making a new console, just an updated version of the current console. It will, in no way, take away from the current owners.

So no, you will not see Gears of War 5 as an Xbox 1.5 exclusive. It doesn't work like that. Microsoft can't afford to pull something like that given how far they are behind sony.

 

I think they should wait for Sony to release the upgraded console and see how people react to it.

 

Doesn't sound like betrayal at all, they'd be doing it to keep up with Sony so it just sounds like a sound business move
