Is Microsoft allowing Elder Scrolls Online to be played without Xbox Live Gold?

@Whagi. Is it easy enough to play alone or is it best to team up with friends?

 

As II read through...it is not accessible without XBL good as of today. That may change but the subscription will apply regardless.

On PC aim only level 37 and I have a few late that are 10 and under.

It's a good game and one that will give you far more hours than any Elder Scrolls game BUT realize this game is not made by Bethesda. Also it's meant to play with others.

You can play by yourself generally speaking but that will not allow you to experience all content. There are things made for single player and more made for multi-player.

The console version of this game when released will differ drastically from what we play today. In MMO games 6-9 months is often times game changing with expansions, updates, content and it's design for a console

I'd highly suggest watching gameplay on Twitch and communicate with certain channels to see if they are willing to go through the game as a way to preview it for you.

I plan on canceling my subscription in July but that is due to me not having the best PC and the current state if the game is full of bugs, glitches and issues.

* The Zenimax team is making a lot of progress on this game and I hope they've planned better for the console release.

The game will be great but I don't know that the delay will help. It will now come after a few other MMO styled games on the console and some more highly anticipated AAA titles. The best time would have been to a BETA it now if it wasn't complete to draw
in a customer base.

If you enjoy playing alone primarily this is not the game for you and I would encourage you to seek another title. Single player may give you 250-350 hours of gameplay if you make multiple player types but at some point you will run out of content as it's
meant to be an online multiplayer not like any online games that exist today on any console.

Perhaps Twitch is the best advice I can offer. Stay away from YouTube until you get a grasp of the game. Make sure you also understand that only levels 1-49 are truly single player levels. You can PvP by yourself but you will be playing with and against
thousands of others who tend to play in groups of 4-25

 

@Thise who pay 3 months at a time for XBL Gold.

Why?

Three times a year you can buy a 12 month XBL gold membership for $30-$35 with no catch or other obligations.

BestBuy and Amazon always do this. I just brought a 12 month around Jan or December.

 

i buy 3 months because my account usually expires when i am broke so its usually all i can manage at the time, one day i will get a year lol

As for this thread why would ms allow EOS special privileges such as no live pay wall, they aint making money for the game its not upto them to code in some special exemption for one game, it would be upto bethesda to take into account a live sub and reduce
the price, separate charges for separate services. Be like me asking ms to get rid of a subscription charge because i pay virgin media for my internet connection, i am subscribing to the internet why should i have to pay for more internet services etc etc
it would never end, games would start being made with subscriptions so they could bypass gold and pocket the cash lol

 

I remember when you purchased a Phantasy Star Universe Guardians License for their monthly fee that you could play it with a silver account. I'm not really interested in EOS so I'll be keeping my $180 year subscription
for it. On a side note, a years XBL Gold is way cheaper than a year of EOS.

ESO doesn't require PS+ To play and only requires the Sub fee....

 

I watched Twitch footage of the game yesterday. It doesn't look interesting to me in the slightest. It reminded me of World of Warcraft, another game I have no interest in, because it had floating numbers, stat bars, DPS, hotkeys, etc. It looks and plays
NOTHING like an Elder Scrolls game and I'm decidedly put off by that.

 

Buying a game then having to pay monthly to play it just don't sit well with me , yeah I can afford the monthly sub but on principle they can shove it.

 

The game is basically "Call Of Duty: Tolkien Edition".

The only sacrifices you have to make are that you continue to buy the same game you already bought over and over again and the game will demand you spend all of your time with it or you'll be left behind by your mates.

As someone who was in 4 of the Betas I can say theres tons to see and explore. Some ppl find an MMO and ONLY play said MMO which is actually cheaper than buying several games throughout the year.

So I would try it for the free month, and if it seems you'll get "your moneys worth" out of it, then go ahead and bite the bullet and get a year sub for LIVE since it's cheaper that way.

You just have to be sure that you want to only play that game. Many ppl only play WOW and thats how they get their gaming fix. Theres enough in the game for, for sure, to amuse many ppl, but for me,....I'm not getting it even though I think it would be
fun for a while b/c of the b.s. they pulled.

The b.s. is that they locked the Imperial race to only those that buy the collectors edition....which as Angry Joe said....seems as if they are getting their money up front.

I guess they know it will go free to play sometime in the near future.

 

I'll def have to go check out Twitch. But ESO is one game I've been waiting for, pretty much since I found out about it and decided to buy the Xbox One.

So does anyone know what is going on with PC users being able to forward their characters over to Xbox One and PS4? Are Xbox One members going to be able to have a choice to play with other players who are within the same skill level?

 

Honestly from everything I have seen and heard so far about ESO...i might just stick with skyrim and wait for Dragon age or witcher 3.

 

£49 game... £8 ESO.... £8 Xbox Live... wow, that really does rack up.
