Is Major Nelson correct?

Ok, so i could well be that I'm as dumb as a shoe but i think not, I watched the most recent XBLI announcement at the end where at the end Major Nelson says 'Did you know' you can download your game dvr's to a Windows 10 p.c edit in your
favourite editing software then simply drag them into your Captures Folder then you can upload to xbl, it's that simple.
Windows 10 p.c CHECK

Favorite editing software CHECK

Downloaded clip and edited CHECK

Dragged to Captures folder CHECK

Now when i go into Game DVR on PC the captures are there, but when i hit the
Upload button i get a pop-up message
'Sorry, this capture cannot be shared. We do not recognise the game'?



I've tried re-naming the files, even down to going into properties folder and changing names there, no change still unable to upload, nothing showing up on Console either. This may just be a simple fix but i can't figure
it out.

Please could someone wave there wisdom over this and help. Your karma will be rewarded.

It is possible it is only with that game yes Major Nelson is correct if you wish a tutorial you can find scrtch on youtube he is a forum mod an provides a great way of doing this.

If it still appears try a different game if it still persists let me know I'll try my best to continue assisting you.

I've searched Youtube and found nothing but way how to download from xbox, nothing about how to upload to game dvr even on Major nelson's YT page. If you know where on youtube the tutorials then please post a link to it.

Hey Miss Bijoux, It's happening with Battlefield 4 & Battlefield Hardline. I have downloaded more than one and none of them are able to upload again without the 'Error' pop-up.

Did you download the original video from your Win 10 Xbox App? I just tested this myself. Downloaded a clip on the Win 10 Xbox App, Renamed / Edited, then popped it back in captures and it uploaded with no issues. This was Overwatch, so maybe it's a game
thing like Miss Bijoux was inquiring about.

 

Hey Hydro, Yes, i did exactly as you seem to have done but still unable to upload. I have to say though the input from you guys/girls in the xbox community keep me believing that Xbox is the place to be and these bugs will eventually be weeded out.

 

I would try a different game. Maybe just rename to see if it uploads? And the Xbox community rocks! I talk to Xbox community people all the time

Thanks for the extra info. I will echo Hydro Skillet's suggestion of trying a different game to see if the issue is restricted to Battlefield 4/Battlefield Hardline or if it's something else.

Definitely keep us posted though!

 

if another game doesn't work I would try to download clip from the app then just transfer that back with no editing if that works ok maybe try a different editor if still no joy see if you cant try another win 10 pc

I have since tried to download/upload Battlefield 1 beta & Battlefield 4 footage without editing and it worked fine, so I know the pc works fine, this may be something though, I am Scottish so
maybe I'm misinterpreting what Major Nelson says, when he says "edit with your favourite editing software" is he being humorous? as in, 'wink wink' Xbox editor? I know my American friends and I can sometimes miss each others sarcasm. Am I being a complete
idiot taking what he said literally, I use Sony Vegas Pro 11. I hope i haven't been wasting all your time.

Hmm. Are you able to try a different editing program to see if that works?

 

thought i would update this post incase anyone else is getting the same issue, I managed to upload to XBL and editd a few clips ( I think 5 or 6 in all) using Sony Vegas Pro 10, then after waiting on them to be verified I got Enforcement notices for every
single clip. So I got it working but got banned from recording with DVR and sharing clips for about 3 months with no way to appeal, ouch!!!! Moral of the story, you can edit on your favourite software but we'll ban you for it.
