Yes, if you're a fan of the game, then definitely get it. I paid 10 euro for it in October and it was still worth it.

Is the base game enough to play with, or will it be necessary to buy a bunch of booster packs?

Spent waaaay too much, back in the day, on actual card boosters. :/
