Is it safe to move Xbone when turned off?

When i turn off the Xbone, is it safe to pick it up from its feet for whatever reason(s)? Sometimes i have to access some of the ports on the back, and the only way i can do this, is to rotate it.

I cannot fully tell if the console is officially turned off when 'off', especially from the white light (not amber) coming from the power adapter. I can still charge stuff from it too, which makes me think it is still on..?

    :)

Is it badfor the system to leave the disc in console after playing?

I leave disks inside my console for days, however if Im not using it I take the power plug off.

    .

If your system is turned on however, it isn't very safe or wise to move your console in any way if a disk is inside.

  3. Xbox One won't turn on

Mine is bricked, no pulsing. Orange light and working fine, then it turned itself off. Orange light when plugged into any socket. No light when connected to xbone.

Is it safe to move Xbone when turned off?

I don't see any official documentation on when to move it, but I can say a couple of things - I can confirm for you that yes, the white light actually does mean the console is in a sort of "sleep mode." It is partially on, listening for the Xbox On command,
and which allows it to power up much faster (by leaving certain components in a low-power stasis rather than fully turned off.) As such, I would definitely recommend powering fully down before moving it (much like not moving a PC when it's asleep rather than
    shut down.)

You can power down by holding the power sensor on the front of the console for 8 seconds, then waiting for the power brick light to turn orange.) Also, if quick startup, voice-on, etc. isn't important, you can go to Menu -> Settings -> Power & Startup and
change your power settings from "instant on" to "power save."

    Hope this helps!

If it's in sleep mode, why would it be a bad thing to move? I mean.. laptops/netbooks can be put into sleep mode and moved around with no problems.

I think the question is whether or not the hard disk is spinning in this sleep state, which I doubt it. Even if it were, i would hope the new technology would prevent anything from getting torn up so easily, if at all. The Xbone didn't come with any manuals,
warnings or instructions.. just a quick setup guide.

  6. I would say that it is perfectly safe to move the xbox when switched off. Just don't move it with a disc inside, as it could ruin the disc.

I would say fully shut it down so that the power brick light is orange before moving.

when the console is in sleep mode the hard drive could still be spinning due to the automatic updates that may be happening. Sudden knocks when hard drives are spinning can cause damage to the disk surface.

As StuartATrueRed mentioned, it isn't about moving the console but the discs.

You can move it while it is on and running if you like, it'll be fine.

The risk is if there is a disc in the drive as moving it while a disc is in there could cause it to damage the disc as it could grind against internal components, it could even get worse if you moved the console enough.

Turning off your console is just best practice if you are going to move it. Moving it while powered up without a disc in it would take some force to cause any damage as you'd have to drop/violently shake it for the HDD's read/write heads to crash into the
plates. Most HDD's if not all now, allow for movement to occur without damage.

The issue you mentioned with the hard drive is a concern - as Mal mentioned, when the Xbox is in sleep mode, it is constantly monitoring for updates, and if it happens to be installing one of these updates when you move it, the hard drive will be spinning
and installing the content being downloaded.

Moving it with a disc in the drive is a more pressing concern, but if you're worried about the hard drive spinning while the console is asleep, it most definitely has the potential to be spinning, even though it's sleeping. That's one of the reasons I mentioned
sleep mode is still not powered down, because various components are still either moving or in stasis/ready mode. (Laptops are a bit of a different animal, as those components are meant to be mobile, resistant to movement and shock, even though the components
are still functioning while asleep. The Xbox isn't designed to be mobile, so the danger would be the same as moving your PC tower while it's asleep - things are still working, you're just using less energy.)

Assuming an interrupted update would cripple the console, automatic updates in sleep mode could be financially dangerous for Microsoft. Not only is the user is unaware of the update, the console doesn't have a battery to ensure an automatic update will successfully
install in the event of a power outage or a random unplugging. People do take these consoles to friends' houses, and even relocate them to different areas of their entertainment setup (including dusting purposes). It's only good practice to do updates manually,
a lot like the 360 had.

As far as my understanding of it goes, the background updates do not "finalize" until they've been verified through a process of checks with the Live servers. Once the installation is verified, the update is official and sticks. If something happens where
the download, install, or verification are interrupted, it wouldn't brick the hard drive, but rather, would revert back to the status of the machine pre-update. The updates can run, get interrupted, and pick up again when the machine is back on and/or in sleep
    mode.
