Is it safe to assume that Microsoft will not add backwards-compatibility for regular XBox ...

Specifically, we still enjoy Star Wars Battlefront 2 from the original XBox. We play it on our XBox 360. We know there is the new version of Battlefront coming out in November, but we would still like the old one.

I'm thinking there is little to no chance of this happening. Can anyone confirm or at least offer opinions?

There are too many Xbox 360 games to add to the Backwards Compatibility and add the fact that it cost money for Microsoft to add games to Backwards Compatibility.

In the long run, the only way that the Xbox One's Backwards Compatibility will replace the Xbox 360 is if all of its games are Backwards Compatible, a feat that could be done but most likely won't happend.

My guess is that Microsoft will mostly focus on the popular titles with a sprinkle of not so popular titles every now and then.

Original xbox games would be hard to emulate I imagine,though I wouldn't mind it myself as I still play my og xbox so the answer for now is its unknown and possibly unlikely but I found this for you which contains a few tweets from Phil spencer,apparently

I would NOT assume that Microsoft will not add backwards compatibility for the original Xbox to the Xbox One. This type of backwards compatibility is technically feasible. It would just cost Microsoft money and time to build it. If you want Microsoft to

also it depends on the developer if they still around and to what ever company that has the rights now for them to do it. microsoft have to ask them if it okay to make it backwards compatible. some companies have already said no to backwards compatible games
to the xbox one.

 

The market would be minute too small to even think about that game before many other better titles from 360, I reckon you'd be better off buying a old box to play your favourite old games than asking Microsoft to give us some more bugs to have some old games
work, hell lets get Shane Warne Cricket on the Backwards compatible list.
