Is it possible to un-claim a GT ?

Hello, and sorry for my english mistakes, it's not my native language.

I unfortunaly claimed a gamertag on Xbox.com but it was no voluntary. I was looking to check if it was available for a teammate and it was. Is it possible to cancel the reservation ? Thanks a lot !

Xbox Suisse a fait un communiqué, Il sera possible de l'importer MAIS ! on devra recréer un compte et le localiser dans un pays du lancement ainsi que la console (ce qui veut dire --> recréer un compte, nouvel abonnement..). je trouve cela Scandaleux de

If I remember correctly, Microsoft updated their policy regarding gamertags. If a gamertag haven't been logged in once during five years, it will become available again. Or you'll have to pay $9.99 + Tax to change the gamertag.

 

Hello Otaku Panda, and thanks for your reply. The only solution to let my friend use this gamertag (which is not used, I only claimed it on Xbox.com) is to pick it, then change to my former one. I was wondering if Microsoft could help by desactivate my demand
to reservation.

 

That is not possible. Every gtag once assigned to an account remain part of it unless (as Otaku Panda kindly explained) the profile doesn't signs online for five years, in that case the gtag becomes available again.
