Is it possible to transfer games to my new xbox?

Hello, I've had an Xbox one for the past few years now and I've been wanting to upgrade to a series s, I have many games on DVD that I was wondering if I would be able to transfer them to the series s so I could still play them? I know that the series s is disk free but I've spent a fair bit on these DVDs and would be disappointed to have to spend a lot more money in order to still be able to play them. Many thanks.

I sincerely apologize, Abby. However, it is not possible to use our disc games on the Xbox Series S console since there is no disc drive on this console. We will only be able to play all our digital games, and you will need to purchase the digital version of the game that you owned via disc so you can play it on the Xbox Series S console.

If you have many disc games and still want to play on a new-generation console, it would be best to get the Xbox Series X since it has a disc drive.

In addition to transferring the content, you should do a license transfer to transfer the content rights for your DLC from your previous console to your new console. Instructions

my son in law has an account is it possible for him to download to his xbox portable hard drive and use that to transfer to my new xbox ?
