Is it possible to play a UK game on american bought Xbox 1

Hi. I recently bought a second copy of xcom 2 and when it arrived it turns out the disc is from the UK. Will this play on my american console?

I was having trouble getting the other copy of xcom to work. Can I play games from the UK or any region.

Wrong Region

I just bought MGS HD from Amazon to ship to Sweden, but when i try to play the game it's says Wrong Region!

i know that it's an american game but is it by any chance possible to avoid buying an new american Xbox just to play MGS?

 

A question about DLC licenses

Unfortunately when I created my Xbox Live account I linked it to an American Hotmail account, this means that I can't redeem UK MSP or buy any DLC from the marketplace, it just gives me region errors. (As I'm in the UK)

If I purchase a games on demand game on a different Gamertag (from the UK); can I play it on my US account?

Basically when you buy some DLC is it licenseD to the console or the account? If it is tied to the console, will I be able to play it on an American account?

Xbox One games are region free which means that can play on an Xbox One console regardless of where it came from. However, you would still have region issues for backwards compatible games.
