Is it possible to password protect purchases on Xbox 360?

My Microsoft and Xbox accounts are linked to my PayPal account, and I thought I had found a way to prevent my son from purchasing add-ons last year, but just got an email for a $3.99 charge for a Minecraft skin that he apparently made yesterday. I tried
to see if I had somehow turned off the password requirement, but can't seem to find any info on that for the 360, only for the One, so I'm guessing I had locked the Wii instead.

Can I password protect purchases on the 360, that just has the free Live access on my husband's account (that kids use for YouTube and Netflix) or do I need to remove PayPal altogether? My only concern with that is would it affect anything other than the
Live account?

I had my rock band drums plugged in and when my dad came round my house, he saw them and started thrashing out a drum solo. I then noticed my xbox light was on, turned on the tv to find that he has only gone and bought an arcade game. Duh!

My 3 year old shouldn't need to have their own Xbox Gold account in order to use Netflix on the Xbox since MS is moving towards a media consumption approach vs strictly a game console. All other media consumption devices that I use require a password confirmation
for making purchase.

 

Yes, you can set parental controls either on the Xbox or on Xbox.com, this will make it so they can only play certain game ratings if you choose, and that a password will have to be entered in order to make a purchase.

 

As mentioned above he should not be on your profile but on his own account

If you allow him on your profile it is at your own risk

 

His profile should be setup as a child account those is part of the terms and conditions you signed up on signing up for the service

If you allow minors onto your account you are responsible for all actions on your account
