  1. Is it possible to just lose your skill at gaming?

So I've been playing games for as long as I can remember and I've always been really good at gaming too. Competitive multiplayer, co-op and single-player. Theeeeen the Xbox One came out and now I just suck. I've constantly been blaming the new controller,
in particular, the thumbsticks. I thought maybe I just needed some time to adapt to the new controller. Weeeeell, it's been almost 2 years. I even bought new thumbsticks to see if that would help...it didn't. Now I'm thinking that I've just lost my skill.
I feel like I should be in my prime of gaming but instead I find myself completely out of tune. When it started, I just sucked on the One but I was still doing good on the 360. Now I just suck across all consoles. I pretty much feel like the Xbox One controller
drained all of my skill. I still play single-player and co-op but competitive multiplayer I've given up on. I still try here and there but it never works out. I used to mostly play 1st person but now I prefer 3rd person. It's just getting worse and worse.
There's soooooooo many games I'd love to play and there's soooooo many games I'm looking forward to but if I can't even play the game, what's the point. Also, yes, I've messed with the sensitivity. I went from playing all of my games on a fairly high sensitivity,
to now playing all of my games on almost the lowest sensitivity. Any ideas on how to get out of this funk? Oh and I'm almost 18. I played better when I was 8. When I was 8, I could compete against 20-30 year olds. Now I think 8 year olds could kick my ***!
I'd appreciate any help I can get Is it possible to just lose your skill at gaming? :)

    :)

  2. A question about sneak perks

    Yes, additional perks will help.

    .

You can see the effect with the combat skills, Pickpocket and armour skills... probably more than just that too. Skills at 100 + Enchantments that add SKILL LEVELS, I doubt, though it's possible, but the perks such as 'Pickpocketing is 20% more effective'
definitely make a difference independent of your skill level.

    Max Level?

i think the idea is to concentrate on 1 skill tree as you can reset your skill points at any time for not much money, but looking at the skill trees i want 2 sabre turrets with nukes which i dont think will be possible Is it possible to just lose your skill at gaming? :(

LOL, yer gettin' old, kid. Unless you're experiencing a decrease in play time (which is a side affect of getting old too...), you may just be losing your timing. If you do other hand intensive jobs (typing, playing instruments, manual labor) you may just
being experiencing fatigue. Maybe your eyes are going, had your eyes checked lately? Don't feel bad, at least my 8 yr old wouldn't kick your butt, he's doesn't stay on task when he's playing & rage quits when you kill him. =) Maybe take a total break. Give
yourself a few months of little to no play then see how you do after a break.

  6. The kids these days stay at home well into their 20's or 30's and do nothing but play games and mooch. Those of us who have a life tend to lose our skill because of real life obligations.

  7. Eye hand coordination. We normally tend to lose some of it over time, but when we set in front of a tube all day, we tend to lose it far faster than even age would drain it from us.

I think Steve Jobs understood that, which is why his kids didn't spend most hours of the day watching TV, playing electronic games, nor thumbscrolling via smartphones.

While everyone has a different definition of "losing a step". Yes absolutely it is possible to lose skill when it comes to online gaming. I personally have lost a step during the late 7th Generation. But I still do well enough to have fun. Just keep
    at it.

While i am aware and understand the controller can have an impact during online competitive MP. I believe the Xbox One controller is far better than its predecessor. It is far more responsive, the D-Pad is better and the analogs have far more grip despite
    being smaller.

  10. Thanks for the advice guys. I already took 5 months off of gaming but I think that has just made it worse. I guess I'll just enjoy the games I can play and give up on the ones I can't. Even though some of the games I don't want to give up on. Anywho, thanks
everyone! Is it possible to just lose your skill at gaming? :)

  11. We all have dry spells when it comes to gaming I believe. I believe you just need to get used to the controller and even the better graphics. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think HD TVs give off a small delay, and maybe that's why it's tougher for you. idk.

I'm 40 and don't feel like I've lost a step yet as far as gaming goes. If I didn't play a certain game for a while I suck for a little bit until I get used to it again.

Now that I'm older I tend to take my time more in games and I don't rush through them like I used to.

The only thing that stinks about gaming now is I have to sacrifice sleep to play. Once the wife and kids are asleep I can game away.

It ain't like riding a bike.

Let me use an example, my kill/death ratio was 2.6 in Modern Warfare 3. Now I even in that game with my classes still in place I can't get near that. I just restarted playing it again after a 3-4 year hiatus and I was getting the *** put to me. But I notice
the more I play the better and sharper I keep getting.
