    Is it possible to download a game update before buying/ installing a game?


    i miss the days of bringing home a new video game and just being able to sit down and play it right after I open it for the first time. Installing the game can be a bit frustrating, but having to download an update is a real issue, especially with an internet
    connection speed of 3Mbs.

    Is there, or will there be, a way to download an update for a game before having possession of the game itself?

    New XB1 owner. Looks great, but DL times, ugh...

    Buy the game on disc and unplug the internet before installing the game to the HD so the system doesn't start downloading the game or update. If you do this the typical game will install in about 10 minutes. After the installation is complete then you can plug the internet back in to download/install the update.

    Why do disk based games take hours to install?

    There is a lot of info. Install them while offline to see if they download faster.

    Click here to see how to download while not online. Also, the game will download updates before it actually starts installing. It just doesn't say that.

    Upgrading to a One tomorrow.

    ps4 lets you install and play while the updates download

    x1 makes you wait on the updates before you install.... odd and annoying

    ive yet to buy a X1 game and play it that day

    gone are the days of buying a game and expecting to play it as soon as you get home on X1

    Thank you for your post. If you purchase DLC before purchasing a game, the DLC will be added to your account but it will not be downloadable or accessible until you install the game it is intended for.
