Is it possible to ban an account? The user stole debit card details and purchased £400 ...

The gamertag and user are both known to me. I do not have access to the account. The user is a 17 year old boy in my care. I believe he is using his (deceased) father's account. He went into my wallet and stole the card details.

I'm not looking to recover the money from Microsoft (although it would be nice). At the very least I'd like the fraudulently purchased content removed, preferably I'd like the account banned.

sorry No this is not possible. Digital content can only be owned and used by one person, the person who purchased it even if the game is a physical disk

 

Please try a different payment option, this payment option is used on as many accounts as it is allowed to be. Remove it from those accounts and try again,

So what is going on here??! im trying to renew my membership with my visa debit card but it wont allow me and just says the anoce message.. I have the funds on my account, card is still valid. The message is very concerning as it suggests that my payment
method is being used on somebody else's account?? Do I need to cancel my debit card because you have allowed my details to be stolen and used by someone else??

i don't have another form of payment I can use.. And I'm more concerned about my details being used fraudulently

 

You'll need to use the dashboard reporting tools to report the tag in question. Go to his bio and select File Complaint then follow the instructions.

As for the credit card info you'll need to report the theft to the credit card company in order to get it investigated and possibly have a refund issued.

Calling support is worth a shot but I don't know if it will help.

I've spoken to MS and as my XBL account hasn't been compromised they were unable to escalate. There's no complaint option for fraud and the bank has of course been informed.

Rep for MS on the phone (Ireland) suggested posting here as forum staff may see it and help further.

 

He's not technically doing anything against the Terms of Use agreement. The only real thing you could do is levy criminal charges against him if you wanted to go that route.

 

True. I've just had a look at the Code Of Conduct and under section H there's "Do not access or attempt to access accounts that you do not own"

He's a family member getting the police involved isn't desirable.

 

There's always the option of taking the console away and having him do chores around the house until it's paid off.

 

That particular section of the Code of Conduct is referring to accessing Microsoft accounts that are not yours. It has nothing to do with banking institutions.

You will need to report him via the console reporting system and contact Customer Service and make a Unauthorized Use Complaint

 

I would also recommend contacting the police and having them investigate and charge the person responsible for theft.
