    Is it possible to A) get Xbox Live Gold WITHOUT the free games, or B) block games...


    Basically trying to find out if it's possible to get Xbox Live Gold without getting the free games that come with them; seeking to block child from playing said games (but need Xbox Live Gold in order for said child to play online multiplayer). Filtering by age/ESRB rating is not a solution because it would block ALL games for that category (e.g., blocking "T" would block ALL "T"-rated games, including "Star Wars: Battlefront", which child is allowed to play).

    Alternatively, if the free games cannot be unattached from the purchase of XLG, is it possible to block specific games individually (by title) as opposed to by age/ESRB rating (which would obviously solve the problem)?

    Any answers/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    purchase live on your account, make the console you home xbox on your account then cancel your childs live sub, when he signs into his account he can play online as your account is sharing the online sub but not anything else, you then get to redeem the games that are suitable on your account and other profiles on the console can play those games.

    They can’t be uncoupled, but games to object to still have to be redeemed, unless you plan to play them yourself.

    It's not possible to play any XBOX 360 games online without a Gold Membership. If you were playing before they had a "free gold weekend" on 6/1-6/3, and if you created a new XBOX Live account from your console you got 1 free month of XBOX Live Gold, after
    that you'll need to pay for a subscription, there is no other way around that.

    But in every article they are saying that free to play games does not require xbox live gold membership... like fortnite

    This game is only free for Gold members. If this is the profile you're attempting to purchase it under that would be the reason you're not able to see the game for free. Free members get access to the game at the full price this game is listed at on the marketplace.
