Is it possible for smartglass to connect to an Xbox one that is connected to live with Ethernet

Just like the title says, this might be in the wrong sub forum but I can't find a better place to put it.

Xbox 360 SmartGlass not working

Same issue as the rest of you. I am trying to connect using Windows 10 laptop (version 1709 and connected ehternet) and Windows 10 Surface (versión 1709 and connected wifi). My Xbox 360 is connected to the internet via Ethernet. The 360 Smartglass
app will bring up my profile but will not connect to my Xbox 360 (console settings allows for Smartglass connectivity)

I am excited for xbox one and I have already preorederd a day one console. The new second screen experience also excites me. What I would like to know is as follows: I connect my 360 with an Ethernet cable to my wireless router to minimize latency. I know
that the new smartglass can connect via wifi. Will I be able to use smartglass via wifi but connect to live with a wired connection? Can I do both?

 

As long as both devices, the xbox One and the device using smartglass, are in the same section of the network, they should be able to connect. No matter if the One is connected by cable and the smartglass device is connected wireless, as it is not a direct
(wireless) connection between both devices, but a connection over the network.

 

Ya the only problem I think is I'm currently living in a large dorm. And the smartglass doesn't see the one

 

So this sounds as the your Smartglass device is not connected to the same network.

It has to be connected to the same network (lan) as the one. Having your Smartglass device connected to the Internet (wan) via your mobile provider is not working. It's only working if connected via WiFi to the same local network (lan) the one is connected
to,, no matter of the one is connected wired or wireless.

 

It sounds like I would need to have my own router in order to set that up since I use the dorms internet. Is there anyway for me to connect without buying a separate router?

 

No, I don't think so.

I am sure, even if they provide additional WiFi, it will be configured the way, that the connected devices are not allowed to communicate with each other, as this would give the possibility to see your neighbors devices.
