Is it just me?

First, I will mention that I still own 4 xbox 360 consoles! My favorite aspects of the 360 are/were a combination of split screen gaming and LAN parties! Often there would be between 4-8 people showing up to play splitscreen LAN. (simply can not play
with that many people in one location online but I still have gold accounts)

Second, I will mention that due to tremendous amounts of changes and billing issues...things like taking away our family plan (promised to never be taken away as long as we kept auto pay on) then they took it anyhow and basically said, sorry about your luck!
Things like after having had that taken away I cancelled my auto pay and then after my 1 year subscriptions ran out they billed me for another year anyhow. (customer service isn't quite sure how that happened...they admit I wasn't on autopay but hey, they
still took my money)...things like accidentally billing me 2 times for the same game on the same gamer tag on the same console...that time they actually took care of it but really?

I went into Gamestop with intentions of walking out with a couple of PS4 consoles but they told me I should really give the ONE a chance that it is really good and that the Gold would cover all of my 360s and ONEs! Yep, walked out with a pair of nice shiny
new turds...ok, backdrop is set...now on to the real reason for this topic...

There is no system link? The number of games that can be split screen is near zero unless you want to play sports games? Am I missing something here? How can you tell us this is next gen and so much better than the old
system when the graphics are only marginally better and you did away with two of the best features??? Truly, I feel completely ripped off...taken, used and abused! I thought about submitting this as feedback but then I realized that nobody would care...Like
my comments, plight, feelings matter to Microsoft! Does nobody else feel as I do? I had intentions of buying two more, now I really have to consider how smart of a choice that is...after all, single player online only games really doesn't
promote me buying four copies of any game now does it? The man cave doesn't need 4 projectors and consoles for xbox one...it needs a single 40" screen for a single console seeing how that is all you want us to do with it...As of right now, I give 2 thumbs
down and if I could borrow some thumbs from someone else I'd offer a couple more...turned down that is!

yes the MP is trying to be like COD (but cod is s hit ffs) and it is for people who run and gun, i have never been a big HALO fan and this one as not done anything to change my mind its a average game at best with a HALO skin whoooooa whoooo, may be i just
dont like FPS anymore but i cant play this game to long without feeling board shittless, infact my favorite HALO game as been HALO WARS i know no one here will agree but HALO WARS is the only reason i have brought any HALO game. I dont get the point of HALO
the SP feels like a very lame ME3 and the Spatan ops take like 30min to finish and MP might be good if it wasn,t run and gun but i only played a couple of games (yes i,m bad) but thats not the point.

First it is up to the game developers to include split screen or local lan gaming options with tge X1.

Yes its just you who feels this way , you need to research for yourself the functionality of ANY product before you purchase. Do not depend on any one persons opinion.

 

its 2014, LAN is a thing of the past.

LAN play and split screen compensated for the lack of high speed internet.

Now that people have high speed connections on their cell phones and any home that wants the internet will more than likely buy high speed and LAN and split screen becomes an extra effort in development.

As another commented, its up to the developers who are making games for profit and for their passions. It makes better business sense to create a game format that is co-op or multiplayer where others have to buy an actual copy of the game and a console.

LAN was used again due to the lack of high speed internet. A router with multiple high speed connections allow a few people to play together + with friends elsewhere.

Its just where the market has gone due to better capabilities.

 

Online multiplayer/co-op is being pushed a lot more now that MS are offering Azure to all devs, so we'll see a lot more games with dedicated servers. System link is something that could be added, but I would guess it'll be based on demand.

As for split screen, the online era has kinda killed that too. The upcoming Xbox One version of Riptide GP2 has 6 player split screen though, so that's one to look out for.

 

I never in my life played a LAN game. But alot of people did/do . But personally it doesn't bother me.

 

Why do some people come to these forums and whinge about almost getting a PS4? Go and get one, don't gloat about it here, nobody gives a flying bottom.

 

@Fake....but he did buy a X1 and he is voicing his displeasure with things about it he doesn't like. Is that so wrong or should he fall in line and say how awesome it is even if he doesn't feel that way?

 

@mgzin66, his frustrations are misdirected though. LAN/Split-screen games are a thing of the past. This isn't MS' fault, it is the way things are now... It's on game developers.

 

I'm not saying that, I have minor problems with the X1 but Im not saying how PS4 almost saved my life. 8 out of 10 posts have people mentioned how they are migrating or almost got one...lol

 

I agree with Viking yet again - it doesn't really bother me, despite the fact that unlike Viking, I actually played a lot of LAN games back in my day. It's nice to have, but not necessary, at least for me. I'm sorry you didn't get what you were hoping for,
