    So someone has threatened to ban me over an Xbox live chat and has claimed his family member works here. He kept telling me his uncle would report this to Microsoft and sort this out. He also asked for my DOB which I responded with, "why," he told me it was just b background check, and I although I knew this fake I knew it would be strange for someone even Microsoft to ask that. I responded with no and he replied with, "you were not able to cooperate and will be banned in the next 1 - 2 days." That was creepy enough for me just because he asked for my DOB, but is there a way I can ban this guy because he did impersonate his uncle who claims to work here and threatened me which is illegal

    I'll appreciate it if someone can help out on this and this guys name on Xbox is [mod removed]

    Impersonation does violate the code of conduct/terms of service. If you haven't already, you'll need to report their messages or report them via their profile in order for the enforcement team to investigate.

    it's amazing, 1 in 5 kids uncle works for microsoft, and 1 in 10 kids friends uncle works for microsoft, by that calculation then microsoft is the biggest employer in the world lol.

    Ill tell you what is frowned upon, naming and shaming people on these forums.

    As for your question, is it illegal? I doubt it, because he wasn't impersonating his uncle, you clearly said that he said his uncle worked for Microsoft.

    Basically block him and report him if you think it warrants it, personally I would block him and move on with my life.

    The only people who you may see online policing the community are those with gamertags starting XBLPET. Anyone else is likely impersonating a member of the Policy Enforcement Team and is at risk of a permanent suspension of their account.

    Also, unless your friend actually lives and works in Redmond, WA at Microsoft, he is not a member of the enforcement team and you could file a complaint on him for impersonating a staff member.
