Is it broken?

Trying to play my xbox one console.... but as soon as i start it up.. it starts making a whirring noise... eg. what the early 360's did...

also the console its self is having connection issues...... but its also not allowing me to see my pins or the xbox live store...

There are other forum posts about this and apparently alot of peoples xbox ones do it... but i want to know whats up with this whirring noise...

If possible id like to return my xbox one for a new one.. before this starts acting like an '06 360

[/quote]No, it is not. It would actually be in violation of the ToU from Microsoft's End if they disclosed Private Information in regards to any Account. A Contract such as the ToU goes both ways, from User to Company and from
Company to User.

I'm definitely sorry to hear what's going on with your console. As to what's causing the noise, it could be multiple reasons.

Here is what I recommend you look into

First off, go to myservice.xbox.com and sign in with the Email and password to your Microsoft account (same info you'd use to sign into your gamertag). Once your signed in, register your xbox one console. Keep in mind that you have a standard 1 year warranty
from Microsoft from the day you purchased it. So you could look into setting up a repair or exchange with Microsoft.

If you've purchased the console within the last 14-30 days, you could look into going to the retailer you purchased the console from (If you didn't purchase the console with microsoftstore.com) to see if they would be willing to exchange it for you.

As for your pins not showing up, Microsoft is currently investigating the issue. Here is a post of another gamer who was having a similar issue that I posted on

What is the whirring noise like? Do you think it's the fan, or it is the hard drive you can hear?

The fan in mine is very quiet indeed. So quiet that I can hear the hard drive seeking, cos the console is only about 4 feet from me when I'm playing on it. It's hard to tell if yours is faulty based on your description, but if it's literally as loud as the
original 360 (not the 360 S) then that's definitely not right. The Xbox One is WAY quieter than that.

As for the pins issue, I assume you're using the instant on mode, so try doing a hard reset. Hold the power button down on the front of the console for about 8 seconds and it will completely shut off, then wait about 20 or 30 seconds and turn it back on.
The almost always fixes odd software glitches like pins disappearing. Hopefully they can work out bugs like that in future dashboard updates.

 

My One made a buzzing sound which eventually turned into not reading the discs. No whirling sound. You can either return it to the retailer for exchange or register the serial number on xbox.com and schedule a repair.
