Is it bad to unplug the Xbox one while sleeping?

This subject kinda bothers me a lot since a friend told me it's doing more harm than any good to unplug the Xbox one every night before going to sleep. I also keep it in "Energy-saving mode". Back to the question: Is it better to use the "Instant-on mode"
always while doing a hard-reset once a week or does it make the Xbox's lifespan shorter?

Power settings and unplugging the console

Hi there,

since the Xbox One has two different power settings (instant on and power saving mode), I'd like to know whether is it safe to unplug the console while instant on is active. If not, I want to know which steps I have to follow to safely unplug the Xbox One
from the mains.

If you guys are having trouble signing into your profile disconnect your kinect and unplug the xbox one while it is still on it worked for me.

 

It won't do any harm at all unplugging it. There's no reason to do a hard reset once a week either unless you have a specific problem.

 

Yes it is bad for it. If you keep doing it the xbox one will grow to hate you. Then oneday it will rise up and unplug you.

 

That Instant Mode can get annoying. When you give the Dashboard a command to turn off, and it does silent updates, and say if you turned it off at the wall when it was in the middle of doing a silent update especially game update. That's probably why when
you check your games on the dashboard, it says something like installation pending. That's probably the only bad-ish reason for turning it off at the wall. Even though LED HDTV's and certain tech is energy efficient, I've been taught to always cut of power
at the wall when you go to sleep or away from home. It saves power and it prevents Xbox 1 from doing any secret updates.

 

No it's not bad, but it's unnecessary.

 

I say this is pretty dangerous. If you unplug it WHILE you are sleeping you could possibly touch the metal prongs and shock you. If you are going to unplug your xbox, do it while you are not sleeping.
