Is it bad to leave a disc inside my Xbox One while it's off?

It was meant to "Quick Resume" your games right where you left off. So they did design it so that users can keep their game in. But personally I only leave my game in when I know I want to use this feature and I will be back on in a few hours.

 

Are you people serious about the "Don't leave a disc in the drive of anything while it's turned off"?? You do realize even the most basic players as well as the Xbox One have a manual "reset drive eject" button in case if there was the slight chance, (1%)
that your disc would get stuck. It doesn't matter either way as all the console does is verify that you have the right to play the installed game with little read-access of the drive being used after that.

In other words, it fine as long as you're not completely OCD about it, then leave it in so you can turn on the console and play another game at will without leaving your couch.

 

I have always left discs in my 360, my One and any DVD or Blu Ray player and CD in my car, never ever ever had any problem or issue with equipment or discs. One thing my consoles have never suffered from is faulty disc drives either.

 

Leave it in if you want.

An Xbox eats no discs so your fine.

On Topic: I agree with those who are saying that it's okay to leave it in your console (even while it's powered off) as long as you don't move your console. With my Xbox 360, I would always leave my game in the disc tray until I switched it for another game.
Even then I had no problems with the discs or the console. On my Xbox One, I've gone completely digital, so the only discs that get put into the disc tray are Blu Ray discs and DVDs that I get in the mail from Netflix.

Definitely fine to leave it in. I've been doing it forever. Same with any disc drive.

Extremely word of caution though - DO NOT pick up your console and throw it across your room, with the disc in it. That could damage both console and disc.

Personally, I don't ever leave my game disc inside of my game consoles, but my friend does and this habbit hasn't caused any damage whatsoever.

Like others have said, DO NOT FORGET to take the game disc out before moving the console.

Ive seen haljolly in the halo 4 forums. I leave my discs inside my xbox 360 and xbox 1 console. Its kk to do so. What not to do is insert it upside down or to stand up your xbox 1 console vertically as the disc drive with the xbox 1 console isnt designed
to stand vertically if you ask me its a lazy disc drive if M implies xbox 1 should only be placed lying down.

 

You will do more wear putting the disc in and removing the disc, instead of just leaving it in there.

On Topic: I've been leaving games in the console since the PS1 days. I have never had even the slightest issue one time. There was a period of time where I left a disk in a console for over 6 months. Still, no issues.

 

Oh well on the weekends I like to hang my xbox on a bungee cord so I say that do extreme gaming but i guess I'll refrain that now since these awesome little rings grooved into my disc may get worse by leaving it in my console at the same time...I'm really
surprised to see this thread has gone this long over a simple question...but not half as surprised as the number people that believe you can lose your disc and these consoles are so accident prone that they mysteriously destroy your disc while it's sitting
idle...ROTFL
