Is it a violation to purchase someone's account?

Someone advertised the sell of their account for $250. I purchased this account about two months ago, paid through paypal, I changed to gamer tag, added xbox live and also have my credit card, email address and phone number added to this account. I logged
onto the account over the weekend and the account is suspended. Apparently the original owner has called in to microsoft and filed a fraud report, claiming the account was stolen. What can I do? I have screenshots of the text messages between us during
the purchase...I also have paypal record of the payment for the account. I've asked around and found out this person does this all the time...sells accounts and then calls and reports fraud. Please help if you can offer any assistance...

It shouldn't matter if someone's console you're using already has the game you'd like to purchase. Your account is the one that's going to be logged in to make the purchase and it will show that your account doesn't have the game purchased.

 

Yes. Buying and selling accounts is a violation. Digital content cannot transfer ownership. The original owner would be the rightful owner.

 

I guess I should have done research before the purchase! Wow! Is there anything I can do to get my money back?

 

You would have to try going through Paypal to see if there is anything they can do.

 

Whether the sale of accounts is against the ToS or not, Xbox are not going to step in because you got scammed.
