Is Dragon Age Origins meant to look this bad?

In an attempt to get me using my Xbox 360 as more than a media streamer a friend leant me the Ultimate Edition of the game, it's the one with all the DLC.

Now as a RTS fan he sold me on trying it as it is meant to be quite tactical.

I've started with the 'prequel' DLC of Leliana's Song and boy does this game look rough. I know it is four years old but there are titles of that age that look far better than this.

I know I'm still in the marketplace at the start but everything just looks grainy and textures look exceedingly low res.

Do things improve later on? It is worth plugging on for the story? The tactics screen looks fairly detailed, though while playing it does feel I lack a bit of control.

The graphics aren't top notch, no....but the story and character development are brilliant. DA:O is second only to Fallout 3 for the best games I've ever played. But if graphics mean more to you than a rich story, then drop it and find something else to
play.

 

Graphics aren't high on my list at all. RTS games after all aren't exactly 'pretty pretty.'

Yet at the same time I don't like 'horrible horrible.'

If the story is good then I'll carry on with it, especially if you say it is as good as Fallout 3. I used
www.nexusmods.com/.../1086 to avoid using GFWL when I played.

 

"Dragon Age: Origins" is absolutely amazing.

How anyone could have taken such an "Epic Win" concept as "LOTR meets KOTOR" and turned it into the shabby, soul-less forgettable psudo-rpg that is "Dragon Age" is incredible.

It was a necessary but painful step in trying to deliver a game with moral choices that weren't completely black and white but it swung so hard into the opposite direction that all your decisions were grey and meaningless.

Throw in the disposable lore and the fact that the bad guys were so devoid of personality (I can't even remember what they were called) that they could have been substituted with anyone (The French? Cardiff FC? Both would have worked) made for a disspointing
experience that fell extremely short of the promise it displayed over the course of it's pre-game hype.

We can only hope that 3rd time's a charm.

 

Dragon Age Origins was ok, it wasn't the prettiest or the best, but for the right price it's worth a play through, if you like the game you would probably love Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen...

 

The price is free so I've not got a grumble about that.

It's just so far I've gotten the story is great. The game is utter rubbish. And a it's okay.
