Is Double NAT bad for my Xbox One console?

I'm going to cut to the chase here.

Two weeks ago I turned on my Xbox to play some Battlefield 1 and I was met with a moderate NAT type, a couple of Teredo errors (that is fixed now), and a Double NAT error message. I tried to fix it every way I could until I just gave up. If I don't fix it,
could it break my Xbox One? Do I even need to fix it?

Hi,

Network issues are caused by your router, not the console. They may prevent you from joining games or cause lag when playing online. They don't damage the console in any way.

I suggest you call your ISP if you are having connection issues that the Xbox support guides haven't fixed.

If you're having no issues playing online, accessing the Store and downloading games or updates, then no. Leave it as it is.

I'd be happy to try and help

If you have a gateway then there is no need for a modem. The double NAT is due to the modem possibly acting as an access point therefore giving the Xbox a double NAT. A gateway is sort of like a router and modem combined into one device, so it has a wireless
signal and also receives the network data from your service provider. I suggest taking the Netgear modem out of the set up and the NAT type should restore after a

power cycle to your Xbox.
