Is DLC region locked?

Hey all,

Just set up my new Xbox one, and pretty excited at this point.

I am in India and have set up the Xbox region to India as well, but am wondering if I am able to buy digital game codes from UK/ my friends in UK are able to buy and gift them to me, would I be able to download them and play, or not?

Mixed info on the web so looking for a clarification!

Remeber some games require certain region dlc like a us blackops will only support English dlc which may not be available in your region

This is true for most region locked games

Blackops is region free but dlc is restricted by language and region

Pokemon RPG on Xbox, ever region on it & instead of a new game they just release a new region in DLC

Due to restrictions from specific countries some games and/or content cannot be accessed. There is no specific list of content that is not allowed so I wouldn't recommend doing this or setting your gamertag to another country (region).

The only way people have found if a game or it's content is not allowed to be downloaded to their country is to have purchased it first. An expensive lesson to be sure.

As mister gwyther said certain content are region locked blackops is region locked

Not all content is region locked it is ideal to create an account in your actual region

Prepaid dlc codes like gears of war and blackops are region locked and will fail before completion

Remeber the region locks are not limited to those two games

But for games and dlc you have the issue with your best option is to buy your actual region

international laws do dictate what you cannot see or download

not all dlc is region locked however when it is it is

prepaid dlc codes are region locked to the account region so if you get japanese code and you have an american account then it will be invalid

blackops dlc in particular is region locked to the physical region and the region it was purchased in

DLC's region locked = no problem,but Full Game Region Locked = that's the problem.

If they make xbox 360 region free atleast i can download the Full Game with no problem,as with DLC's i don't usually buy DLC's of any game.

Xbox One DLCs are region free whereas Xbox 360 DLCs are region locked.
