Is Destiny... Boring?

So I've spent more than a few hours playing Destiny... completed a number of missions... I have to say that I find it a bit boring... the AI are not a challenge... pretty much a walk through shooting gallery... I have yet to be able to play with random people
in this "shared world"... so it's just me, plodding along, with the extremely boring voice acting by Peter Dinklage for company... I'm on another mission, on the moon, shooting gallery... about to get to the boss... and my internet blinks... which means I'm
cut of from the servers... which means the last hour of my life was wasted, because I have to start over... mostly I had hoped that the "shared world" of Destiny would allow for easy teaming up in the field, or being paired with others at my level, on my same
mission... so far, nothing... I don't have a large cadre of friends online (and don't want any, to be honest)... I would like to partner with randoms, at my level, for missions... as I thought the game would do... but thus far, it's just me, the shooting gallery
millions, and poor Peter, droning on and on... is it just me?

Having troubles choosing a game to get. Also, should I trade in Destiny?

Dont insult Halo with the trash that is Destiny. Destiny has about .5% of the content Halo does. Not to mention the MP is abysmal in Destiny.

If you want to play with other players, but not necessarily develop a friend's list, you'll have to manually invite random players to your fireteam. Matchmaking does not exist outside of the Strike missions and PVP. You will see other players in the Patrol
sections of each world, but when you enter the Darkness zones of your mission, those other players will disappear. No one outside of your fireteam can accompany you. You'll have to go out of your way to get randoms to assist you, and there is no guarantee
they will accept your invite. I'm not sure why matchmaking couldn't be implemented for the story missions as well.

As for difficulty, the game is very easy in the respect that there is no real penalty for dying. At its worst, you'll have to restart at the last checkpoint. On any difficulty, AI is fairly predictable. They spawn the same way, they follow the same patterns,
but at raised difficulties, your weapons and armor become less effective. Try setting your missions to hard and see how you feel about the challenge. It find it does slow you down a bit, but I don't know that it will necessarily make the game more exciting
for you.

 

With no chat system a mmo feels empty IMO this is the real issue.

An item based game with skill systems identical to MMOs and is only online. Its a mmo

 

^^The thing is though its not. Its suffering from an identity crisis. It wants to be an MMO but Bungie has gone to great lengths to classify it as a Shared World Shooter. You can call it an MMO because it should be classified as such. Bungie just doesn't
want you too.

 

I disagree on the enemy AI, as always Bungie makes the smartest enemy Ai of all their competitors, they retreat, regroup, look for cover - all the things you don't see from their competitor.

As an example may I present to you the enemy AI of Crysis series, in fact any of the eye candy garbage made by Crytek. Morons who spend half the game walking into walls and muttering "Must've been the wind" as you couch right next to them after putting
an arsenal into them and their dead comrades at their feet.

Now I'm sure you can point out idiotic behaviour in enemy AI in Destiny and Halo and I'm sure there is considering they are VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS, and yes they'll spawn in the same place all the time but do the same thing every time - not in my game.

But anyway, point me to a game that has smarter enemy AI and I bet you'll struggle.

 

the Ai in this game is a joke! if i get in trouble i just take a few steps back and the AI leaves. I get my health back and then I go back to fighting. Rinse, repeat. AI is a joke. Seems like this is why everything is go here and wait for the horde mode
to start, kill them all and then go back to the Tower.

 

It is NOT an MMO. MO, yes. Not massively, though. To even call it an MMO is just flat incorrect. Otherwise, you would be playing with 100s or 1000s of other people, together. Examples: WoW, UO, AO, Runescape, Everquest, LothEO, etc. etc. You know,
all MMO(rpg)s.

I'm surprised to hear this really. Haven't noticed that in my experience but then again apart from taking cover to regen my shield I stay in the engagements and if I don't move they generally come looking for me. Just how far do you step back? I wouldn't
be expecting them to chase you from area to area and of course you can reset the spawns if you go far enough.

Out of interest, what game(s) do you rate the enemy AI?

 

I think the game is boring while playing solo, but co-op it has its moments.

As for the enemies, I think the respawn rate needs to be tweaked. I'll wipe out all of the enemies in a group, check my inventory, take 5 steps forward and they're back.

 

Barry, you don't have to move back into a totally new area. Just drop back a little and they either completely stop or drop back quite far.

I really don't know what game I would say has great AI but this one does not.
