Is cancelling a preorder, the same as getting a refund on a digital game?

I've seen that you can be granted a refund once a year, and I was wondering if that includes preorders, because I canceled a preorder a couple of days ago, and I bought Battlefield 1 earlier today. and I'm regretting this purchase. I don't think it's the
same thing because it says the preorder has been canceled and not refunded, but I would like to be sure it's different.

for an issue like this you will have to contact official Xbox Support and since chat isn't working the only other option is Phone.

Make sure the country in the bottom left corner matches your region to make sure you are seeing the correct contact details.

 

Cancelling a preorder

I need to cancel a preorder on my account and I don't have anyway to call and the chat isn't working for me it keeps saying to many authentication attempts. Can some one from microsoft help me.

for any refund questions you will have to contact official Xbox Support (via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat) they are the only ones that can determine if a refund is possible or not.

You can cancel a pre order any time you want up until the games release,that doesn't count as a refund.

The whole one refund per year is untrue,while support will give out refunds it should only be if there is something wrong with the game.

As a rule there are no refunds,it does tell you this when you buy anything from the marketplace, unless the game is broken.

Support do relax this rule but be aware that asking for to many refunds will get you into trouble with the enforcement team.

 

Thank you for clearing this up for me. I won't try to do a refund because the game isn't broke, and also I've begun to enjoy the game and not regret it.

 

Good to hear.It can take a few hours for some games to become more enjoyable.

That is a risk when buying digital games,that you might buy a game that you don't like & are stuck with it.
