Is 8 Hours Too Long For A Single Player Campaign?

So Titanfall 2's single player campaign is about 8-ish hours to complete. Is that too long for today's casual players?

Are used games sales killing single-player games?

The reason people don't buy single player games is because they are too short, i mean who wants to pay £40 ($60) for a game that takes 6-8 hours to finish when you can just rent it for a week for like £5

Three hours is about the longest I can play single or multi-player for.

I just don't like sitting still for long periods.

 

It takes 50 hours to complete the single player story to final fantasy xiii. 8 hours is a standard working day. Even halo 5 etc take longer to complete.

 

8 hours is an exceptionally short campaign, may as well not even have a campaign at all.

 

uhm halo 5's campaign can be beatin in under 4 hours, and that was pointed out in Angry Joes review. I generally don't actually think the length that is being said is as long for some as I'm sure there are people that will beat it in under 8 hours.

 

Try that deadline while playing it on the hardest difficulty legendary and NOT skipping any cutscenes...

 

Yes, I think an 8 hour campaign is too long for a casual player. They probably wouldn't complete it.

 

Casual players aren't going to play on the hardest difficulty though.

Took me just over 4 hours to beat Halo 5's god awful campaign on normal & that was faffing about looking for collectables.

Look at it this way,a 8 hour campaign in Titanfall 2 is 8 hours longer than the campaign in the first Titanfall.

 

I think they'd probably quit after the first hour ^u^

But for regular or avid gamers 8 hours is way too short. I need to get around 20+ to feel like I got my monies worth depending on how much I spent.

 

Eight hours is plenty for some titles, I would prefer a punchy action filled shooter campaign of that length over one that just dragged on repeating itself. Other games like Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Witcher suit longer more involved campaigns as the stories
can stand up to extended scrutiny. I would say eight hours for Titanfall would be about right for me.

 

Think Genchy hit the nail on the head. Depends what sort of game it is, I personally wouldn't want like a 30 hours first person shooter game, itwould get boring, 8-15 hours is long enough for that type of game.

Plus Titanfall is mainly a multi-player game, they're only tacking on a single player because of all the out cries on their last game, I personally didn't think it needed one.

 

8 is fine but that 8 is probably more like 4 or 5. Developers usually give a number that's way too high when saying how long their game is. I'm glad it has a campaign but the game is probably still a pass
