Irony of "Forza Freedom"

Every time I see the Forza 2 Horizon ad with the slot cars breaking out of the track it just drives home just how ironic it is that they make such a big deal about this game being all about freedom but it's the worst Forza game in that regard.

It is such a pain in the *** to do anything because you can't just use a normal menu. They have this stupid metaphor of the world in order to change races, etc. And worse yet, they make you have to spend credits just to jump to the "hub."

What kind of freedom is it when you have to spend all your valuable gaming time driving around just to get to a virtual parking lot so you can use the menu?

I love doing races on streets, but please update the game to just let us enter the menu and change championships, etc whenever we want to. Or remove the idiotic cash grab of charging us credits just to move around a game we already paid for.

If you find and smash all the fast travel boards it becomes free. Just go to the map and remove all filters except bonus boards.

 

"Freedom" in this sense means the ability to traverse the game's world without being restricted by walls or barriers that don't allow you to go certain places on the map. In this regard - this game is a HUGE improvement over Horizon 1. The Championships
are short (4 races each) so I don't really see it as game-breaking that you have to complete 4 races in the same car before changing at the Hub and starting a new Championship.

I haven't finished the game yet - but I assume that once all the races have been completed we'll be able to go back in single player and run all the tracks in whatever cars we want (I hope).

As for your last comment - is there something I missed that allows us to buy in-game credits with real money? From what I've seen, this isn't any different than any other Forza game. In the game you earn credits to buy cars, buy upgrades and fast travel.
There's no additional real-world cash needed for anything else once you've purchased the game.

Why play an open world game if it's to use fast travel.....

 

fast travel however is free around lvl 30(i think),or with 5perk pts...

I haven't used a single organized event since I got my first top class car (Noble 600).

I find it way more fun to bomb back and forth the 2 awesome highways at 200+ mph than driving in the organized events. You can amass tons of skill points doing this provided you don't hit anything...

There are even conveniently located hubs to hit the garage and swap out cars at either end of the highway runs. I just wish you could have the SAT nav to prefer to route using the highways instead of the side roads between those hubs.

 

Fast travel is discounted by breaking the fast travel boards. I haven't hit them all so I'm not sure if you eventually get to the point where fast travel is free.

The fast travel perk does not affect the cost of fast travel. The fast travel perk simply allows fast travel to more locations on the map (without the perk you can only fast travel to select events).

 

Crunch it does become free once you hit them all. At least it is for me.
