IR out/Kinect no longer controls TV since NXOE

Since we got the updated system (November 2015), my Xbox hasn't been able to control my TV other than toggle power on/off.

I have (and had before new update) an IR blaster AND the Kinect. When I use the volume up control (either voice, smart glass, or media remote), the Xbox doesn't send a signal to the TV anymore. NO commands work.

I have disconnected both the Kinect and IR blaster, to see if one was interfering with the other, I've re calibrated the Kinect as well. The blaster I use lights up when it sends a signal ( I see it send the toggle power signal when I turn the Xbox on/off)

    Anyone else have this issue?

    :)

Universal remote functions on kinectless xbox one?

Nope, the Kinect is the IR blaster, no Kinect, no control over your tv, set top box etc

After NXOE, Kinect no longer sends signals for volume control, all else is fine

Since the NXOE, the Kinect no longer controls my Samsung UA55D8000 TV for volume changing commands.

    It worked perfectly before update.

I have tried recalibration of kinect (although it appears you can no longer calibrate for position - both calibration options are for audio only).

I have removed the TV setup for device control and re-setup - Which is where it gets strange - During TV setup the kinect has no issues sending mute and volume down commands to TV and the TV recognises them.

I used phone camera to see if kinect is sending commands for volume control, but it does not. There is no issues with xbox on or xbox off. Channels change fine and voice controls work for everything else.

Please help. We finally have a great reason for using these commands (we just had or first child and nursing with voice commands would be awesome...).

    Things I have tried:

Unplugging everything, power cycling, recalibration of kinect, I AM plugged directly into wall socket for power. I have the latest NXOE build.

    Thanks.

IR out/Kinect no longer controls TV since NXOE

Hi, as far as my knowledge extends I can't give you much technical advice, this may be a hardware error inside the Xbox. What I would personally do is head over to this link (support.xbox.com/.../getting-your-product-serviced)
and see if you are able to get your Xbox repaired IR out/Kinect no longer controls TV since NXOE :) Thanks, Kyle.

If this helped you it would help me greatly if you left me a like IR out/Kinect no longer controls TV since NXOE :)

Mine is doing the same thing but my TV is a LG. I also checked with the phone camera for the IR blast during and after TV setup. During TV control setup I get the IR blast for mute and volume up and it controls the tv. But after setup just sitting on the
new NXOE build I do not get the IR blast for the Mute or and volume commands and every other IR blast command works that I tried besides those.

Question about upcoming Xbox one remote

The official news post about the remote *only* says that Kinect is used for IR blasting your TV and your AV receiver. It doesn't say that Kinect is used to receive the remote's signals for controlling the console itself.

Given that, and given that the console does have its own IR receiver, I'd assume that control of the console itself is direct using the remote. Kinect is just needed for TV/AV control, as the remote does not send signals to those directly.

Remote > IR > Console = console control.

    Remote > IR > Console---Kinect > IR > TV & AV = TV & AV control

    Xbox one TV

Like Dangerboy said...the Kinect acts as an IR blaster... so if you don't have it there is no controlling any other components using your controller. Not sure you can even use the smartglass app since the only way your TV box would know to change the channel
is if it received an IR signal from Kinect.

    xbox one functionality

Does it have HDMI out and an IR receiver for a remote? If the answer to either of those questions is no, then no.

    .

TV signal has to be fed to the Xbox One via HDMI, and Kinect controls your tv/cable box/whatever via its IR blaster.
