IR Extender or Repeater Question

I have my XBOX One in a position where the media remote cant always see the IR port on the front. Dopes anyone know if there is any device, that is not too expensive, that will allow me have the IR signal from the remote extended. I know there is an IR
output port on the back of the XBOX One, but is this only for sending signal to other devices (cables boxes) or can it also serve as an input? If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

How do I use IR Port in back?

Does the xbox IR port repeat any remote I point at the kinect? My xbox one is at front of room (as there is no 40ft kinect extension cable). The rest of my equipment is in a closet, it includes items not controllable via xbox. Can I plug an IR extender
cable into the IR output port and use tho kinect to receive IR signals and send them to the closet?

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using
