IR Cable not enough to change channels on OneGuide

Well, we've seen this before, but I haven't seen a perfect match for my situation, so I figured I'd ask.

So, my goal is to control my tv and cable with the Xbox One S. I did all I needed to set everything up. I bought a cute media remote and all of that. The volume works fine. I can change between apps on the Xbox. I can do everything as advertised except change
channels. Watching TV on the OneGuide is simple. Easy. Beautiful. Sexy. Again, this is all while using the media remote.

So, I realized I needed the Kinect. Fine. I bought that. I plugged that in. I got it working. "Hey Cortana" works and everything (my laptop also responds to that command so that was funny). Kinect sees me in my messy room. It's all good. But, still, no changing
    channels.

So, then, I read about the IR Emitters and how they help. I followed the directions on the Xbox support site. I made sure I got the right type of cable. And, still, no good. Now, let me go ahead and share some details about my setup. My setup has no...obstructions.
There is nothing inside of any casing. Everything is out in the open. Always has been. And, again, Kinect worked perfectly fine. I'm not in direct sunlight. So, I felt that I didn't need the cable. But, whatever.

I am using Xfinity. However (and this occurred to me as an issue but I still wonder) I am not using the "main" box. Instead, I am using the "little" box. Now, could that be my issue where this only works with the main Xfinity box? I haven't tried with the
main box. Also, on that little box, where is the ir receiver? That box is so...simple. It seems like ya can't miss it if it's there. The little box is in my room. I'd rather this setup be in my room. So, that's why I didn't try to main or big box.

I don't know. Like I said, everything else works except for that. It's possible that it just isn't meant to be (wish I knew that before making purchases; but then, I wouldn't be able to come to this conclusion). I'm in south New Jersey; within an hour from
Philly. So, I feel like my location shouldn't be too messed up, being so close to a major city. Ah well.

I got so desperate, I put the IR emitters on the Xfinity remote! Like, really, I tried everything I could think of.

I gotta say, having one device controlling all of your devices like this is awesome. Literally, the last piece is being able to change channels. And, I mean, changing channels. Cortana can't change. My media remote. Smartglass. The controller that came with
the console. No matter what setting I pick (for Xbox AND Xfinity), I can't get it to work. No matter what positioning of the emitters and even the Kinect, no good. So, either I'm missing something, or this just is a lost cause and I'll have to use the Xfinity
remote for the channel thing, which is fine, but not of preferred convenience.

Any tips or even a flat out solution is appreciated. Or...a funny meme of how screwed I am...

    :)

IR port not working with Kinect disconnected... can't change channels with separate IR emitter cable?

I don't want to use the Kinect, but still want to change channels. I used an IR emitter cable and plugged it into the IR OUT 3.5mm port on the back of the Xbox One. But when I select a channel in the OneGuide, I get a pop-up message saying "We can't change
channels. Hold "Home" button for more info"... selecting that just takes me to Kinect setup saying I need to have Kinect plugged in. So can you use the IR port without the Kinect to control my cable box? Could I have a bad IR emitter cable?

    Hey guys,

Can you go to TV & OneGuide settings -> device control -> Cable/sat box and change the channel change IR speed to slow?

If that doesn't fix it, on the cable/sat box device page, go to enter a remote code and try typing these in:

    -C1376

    -C1877

    -C0877

    -C2187

    -C0869

    -C3916

    -C0476

IR Cable not enough to change channels on OneGuide

I have the same issue with my Box it is an Xfinity model AX014ANC. There doesn't seem to be a code that works in setup to allow the Kinect to change the channels of the Comcast/Xfinity X1 box. I'm as lost as you are.... Insert swear words here!!!!

One Guide won't change channels AT&T Uverse

You can't change channels without the kinect or an IR cable. The kinect is what sends the IR signal to the box.

Xbox One won't control my HW150PVR tuner

In the words of the infamous Doc Brown... "IT WORKS!!!!!!!!"

Interstella69 with the tip of the day! I moved the IR cables this morning to where the receivers were directly over the USB port, removed the cable box from the settings so I could go through it fresh, and started over using "Homeworx" as the manufacturer.
With the IR receivers in the right spot, the Xbox was able to receive the power function on the second try and upon trying to change the channel with the OneGuide, it worked PERFECTLY!

Interstella69, thank you SO MUCH for your suggestion! IT WORKS!!!!!!! I can't believe it was something as simple as the IR cable placement.
