IR Blaster not working

Ever since the Spring 2017 update, my IR blasters don't turn on anything anymore. They shut off TVs and my stereo receiver when I turn off the Xboxes, but it's like the Xbox forgets to send out the "turn on" command when it's booting up. I have four xbox
ones through out the house (3 original, 1 slim) all connected to Samsung TVs of various sizes and models, all using IR blaster cables. They all would turn on the TVs no problem but since the spring 2017 update, none of the xboxes turn on anything. No changes
to any hardware other than the xbox updates, no moving of IR blaster cables. I even went through the xboxes and put in the exact model numbers of the TVs in the device control section but it didn't help. Has anyone else experienced this?

ir blaster stopped working

My xbox one IR blaster stopped working; I have tried a hard reset and I have tested my IR extenders with other products. Do you think the xbox console is defective. (it was working before). I really don't want to do a factor reset and not sure if that
would help. Any suggestions?

 

Onkyo receiver not working with Xbox One

Not sure how you have yours set up. Are you using the IR blaster?



I control everything through my Onkyo receiver (via the HDMI ports), just like I do with my 360. I'm not using the IR blaster, and everything is working fine.



...well, along with my Logitech Harmony remote.

 

Have you tried a
power cycle? Just hold the power button for 10 seconds so the console fully turns off, then turn it back on.

Before I got the Xbox One S, my original Xbox One had IR blasters that controlled my TV. Occasionally, turning my console on wouldn't turn the TV on as well. Had to give my console a power cycle when that happened to make it work again. Sometimes you have
to "refresh" the console when you have it set to Instant-On (in the power settings).

I have to admit I was skeptical at first thinking what is a power cycle gonna do? But I tried it and what do you know, it worked! Thanks so much!

 

I spoke too soon. When I hold the power button down to shut off the xbox, the next time it's turned on, it turns on the TV. Then the next time after that I turn on the Xbox, it doesn't turn on the TV. It seems the only time after the Spring 2017 update
the Xbox turns on a TV is after it's shut off holding the power button.

Looks like I'm not the only one after looking at the message boards :/

Sorry to see any issues with the A/V device controls on your console! It does seem to be related to Instant On, as I had this issue on my personal Xbox One S as well. Once I switched it to Energy Saving mode, it seems to be working appropriately.

I see that you are in the Insider program. I highly suggest sending in feedback through the console to get this issue to the Insider team. If you haven't already, check the Insider forums linked at the bottom of my post to see if others are posting about
this as well. Chime in to share your experience!
