The XboxOne's DUID for its IPv6 DHCPv6 Client is being regenerated every time the system starts or restarts.

This is not correct, the DUID should be atleast semi permanent maybe regenerating after a factory defaulting at most.

Since the DUID is changing every reboot/startup its impossible to reserve an IPv6 for the XboxOne since in IPv6 that is based on DUID.

XBOX one IPv6 DUID changing every day

The XBOX one IPv6 DUID is changing every day.

I run a DHCPv6 Server with reservations. This makes the XBOX reservation valid for only one day, all following days the XBOX one will NACK the reservation and not obtain an IPV6 address.

Further compounded is the firewall rules that need to be changed to reflect the new address every day.

If I had to guess; this behavior seems to be based off some sort of script that uses the date of the timestamp field to ++1 the DUID.

Need a patch to fix this bad behavior!

    Toredo IP ...

    Hi!

I have a new XBox One and troubles with the infamous "Teredo IP" error.

My network consists of a NATed IPv4+upnp network with static external IP and a routed IPv6 network. Because I've a routed IPv6 network my ISP does not allow IPv6 tunneling of any kind.

    My 360 worked fine.

For all my tests I cleared NAT tables and upnp rules. So, no leftovers from 360 or other devices in any tables.

    I've two problems with XBO.

First: Every time XBO boots it chooses a new DHCPv6 DUID. This prevents my DHCP to assign a static IPv6 address to the XBO. This makes debugging issues a pain.

Second: It seems XBO does not use native IPv6+IPSec without Teredo.

Since my ISP will not open v6 tunneling which options do I have?

How does Xbox One configure for IPv6

This is correct. The Xbox one is capable of IPv6 addresses, as are most modern devices, but it is dependent on the IP given by the local networking gear and what IP you are assigned by your ISP.

So check that your router modem can and does assign local IPv6 via DHCP, and contact your ISP is assigning your endpoint an IPv6 address.

    Can't configure manual DNS settings

I have tried the same thing manual DNS setup does nothing. In my case the IPv6 DNS names are displayed in the network configuration (even though I am configuring IPv4) and there is no way to change them. I have setup IPv4 manually but the DNS is still
    taking DHCP IPv6.

Can't get a Teredo IP address error but ports are open

    Hi SG Godstinct,

Sorry you're having issues with your console. That error is often referencing IPv6. Try logging into your router and changing DHCP to IPv4, then unplug your xbox, and plug it in.

    Hope this helps!

Any hope for those that Can't Get Teredo IP Address?

The Teredo IP address message has nothing to do with ports being blocked. It has to do with your ISP's IPv6 implementation. ISPs like Comcast support IPv6 via DHCP, whereas some are currently just using IPv6 to IPv4 tunneling on their routers (which seems
to be flaky with the Xbox One). The only resolution is to get more info on whether your ISP supports IPv6, and if you're using your own router, set the router's IPv6 support appropriately. I got the Teredo error until I manually set my router to DHCP for
IPv6 instead of Auto or 4-to-6 tunneling.
