IP Address not recognized

I have been trying to stream games through my xbox one at college but it says that the xbox isnt found when I type in the IP into the xbox app. I have also tried to connect it this way with the smart glass app on my phone with the same issue. This is a college
wifi but I have seen people on campus do this before and am wondering if anyone else has been able to do this on a public or college wifi. What am I doing wrong? The xbox is plugged in via ethernet to the wall and cant go on the wifi, the laptop is on the
wifi, if that helps?

Suddenly getting "regional" errors

If you're in the military most bases are recognized as having a US IP address. Are you living off base? You could try bringing the console to base and seeing if that fixes the problem without migrating regions.

For the Xbox App and Smartglass to work, they need to be on the same network. I suspect your college has set up their network in such a way that the ethernet connection and WiFi network are different subnets, which would prevent this Xbox connection from
working. Is there any way to get your console onto the WiFi network instead? Or maybe the laptop onto the wired network? Simply doing this could resolve your issue.

I saw you posted in another thread, and that made me think of another step: can you make sure you are already signed into your profile on the Xbox One? You need to be signed in for the Xbox App and console to be able to establish a connection.

I did hardwire it and that did not fix issue. the only thing that has worked for me is manually changing my IP address and getting my Xbox to recognize that IP address

Yeah I’ve even tried changing the ip address manually and restarting the router. The 360 recognized right away that that ip address wasn’t available/valid; then I changed it back to its original address before going manual, and then it knew it had been set up specifically. So that was a no go too.

I believe that as soon as you get to the U.S. Xbox LIVE will recognize you are in the United States through your IP address.
