Microsoft has not officially published bluetooth drivers for iOS.

Currently, the bluetooth functionality on the controller is only supported on Windows 10 and Samsung Gear
VR.

Numerous sites indicate you can but from what I’ve researched Apple only allows MFi certified devices to work with iOS and the Xbox controller is not certified.
