Do you need billing (address of home) to buy games with gift cards?

Refunding an invalid transaction

So I was trying to get a 75 € gift card through the marketplace on my laptop, and last night before microsoft stated they were having issues with payment and invoicing. So I made the payment and got charged for it but did not receive the code or a confirmation
email! I basically got charged for nothing but it cannot be valid. MIcrosoft support was unavailable last night and it is still unavailable now so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know

problems trying to buy

I have problem when invoicing a game, I add my card with the correct data and still I can not make the purchase, the store says "please communicate with support"and so here I am

(in my bank everything is fine, and I communicate with them)

For security purposes yes, you need billing information (an address) on file.

This is to make sure you are using the correct gift card

Gift cards are region specific

So if you bought Japanese or Canadian but in the US it won't work

And ironically will cause you more problems

The balance won't show up on your account until you have the proper billing address to the region

Foreign gift cards won't work unless you have the proper regional account

If you use a French card you won't be able to use it on a UK account until you switch to French region with French billing address for example
