Invites/Friends joining via game invite sometimes will be directed to the wrong game.

My son and his 2 friends are trying to play Minecraft together by joining the same world. My son is hosting on his android-device, and have sent a invitation to each of his friends.

We have tried the following:

Case 1: "Friend 1" gets the invite, and joins the game. "Friend 2" gets the invite, at tries to join the game, but gets a time-out.

Case 2: "Friend 2" gets the invite, and joins the game. "Friend 1" gets the invite, at tries to join the game, but gets a time-out.

Case 3: "Friend 1" creates a game, and "Friend 2" joins and can play. My son tries to join but gets a time-out.

The maximum player-limit is 10, and they are 3 players in total.

What can be the problem, when both of his friends can join individually to my sons game, but when they try to join the same game one of them gets a time-out?

There isn't really a set way to just go on your friends list and invite a friend but you can just invite them straight from the game. Not only that if you and your friends are in a party you can set the party to the game you're playing and it will notify
everyone in the party and they can join you from that. It will take sometime to get use to but it's definitely a lot faster.

Some games are switching up to use their in-game invite system which is why the option you seek isn't availble. Try looking for the in-game invite system to invite/join your friends.

My friend does not receive any messages I send, invites, etc. I can receive his, but, when I accept his game invite it just says unable to join session, after 2 minutes. To get into a party, I have to start one, he has to restart his xbox, and then join
my party via friends menu.

You only need to be friends in game and on Xbox app. Be sure that you both have finished the prologue. After that whenever your friend joins a session and you are in solo, the join online option changes to join friend's session.

Another option is to create a Team within the game. Invite your friends into the team via Xbox app. Let them accept the invite. Play together
