Invited to the Xbox One Preview program but didn't receive Preview app download link

Hi all,

I was asked to post here by Xbox Support live chat who've been helping me with this issue, so here we are. I recently got an Xbox One (long time 360 owner, recently upgrading) and I've been invited to the Xbox One Preview Program by some of my friends. I've
had three of them invite me so far - the first invite was nearly 2 weeks ago now - but I haven't received a message on the Xbox One with a link to download the Preview app, as the FAQ page states should happen shortly after getting invited.

I realise it normally takes a few days for approval to go through, but I assume 13 days should be long enough for this to have gone through? The advisor I spoke to on support chat viewed my account using the verifyme.microsoft.com system, and confirmed that
they could see the invites that my account had received to the program.

They have asked me to try being invited again, which I'm in the process of, but since I have four invites already (three friends, one of whom invited me twice after I mentioned I hadn't received a Preview app link), I'm not sure this will work.

Could anyone advise on if there is a way to get my account approved, since it's been confirmed by support that I have indeed been invited?

Preview program app and forum access

Hi there,

there is no link to download the preview app, the Xbox 360 preview program does not have an invitation option and does not require a preview app download.

If you mean the Xbox One preview then please post in the Xbox One forum section, but be aware that an invitation (which can be done by friends in the preview) will not guarantee you will be accepted to the program. Once accepted you will receive a Xbox Live
Message with a code to download the preview app there is no external link.

 

Early acces preview program

The Xbox 360 and Xbox One preview programs are separate... being in one doesn't guarantee access to the other. To get into the Xbox One preview program, you'll need to be invited by a friend who is already in the program, and then be accepted by Microsoft
(you'll get a message from Xbox Live with a link to download the Preview Dashboard app).

 

Try private messaging a member of official support about the issue.

 

You must be 18 years+ also have no actions taken against you, but even if you are a saint it doesn't guarantee being accepted.

 

Yeah,just because you've been invited doesn't mean your guaranteed to be accepted.

If you haven't got the preview app by now chances are you didn't get in.

 

Thanks all. I've messaged a member of support on here and will update if I hear anything back. I was advised to contact support by phone also, which I did - I spoke to two advisors (the first call cut out mid-way through), and interestingly, they both said
that as far as they can see I have indeed been sent the message, but haven't accepted it.

This is strange as I don't have any such message on the Xbox One - the only message I have from Microsoft is regarding an expiry date for some account credit.

After this I re-checked the FAQ, which says if you've lost/deleted the message, post in the preview forum - except, the forum is still private for me.

Not sure what to think here - I would assume if I was invited the forum would be unlocked, and since it isn't, I'm doubtful, but this is two separate helpers now who've told me Microsoft have sent the message and I haven't accepted it.

Very strange. As I said if I hear any news through PM I'll update here.

 

Hi whiteylfc! I will post your username to the Preview Registration forums - they should be able to either re-send the preview app code based on that, OR, they will grant you forums access so that you can go on and post about this! (As far as I know, your
access to the forums only happens when you "accept" the invite, which is done by downloading the Preview Dashboard app. Since you can't do that, you won't have access yet. Also, just so you know, once you accept the invite and download the App, it usually
takes around 48 hours for you to be granted forum access to the preview boards.)

That did the trick - redeemed the code and the app downloaded straight away - thanks a lot!

 

I'm having the same problem, ive been invited by this dude and it hasnt come up. Its been 2 weeks

 

Hi Jelly! Let me just run through the basics - when a user invites someone on their friends list, that invite actually goes to MS as a recommendation for the program (it might be better called "recommendation," because the invitation doesn't go to you.)
Then MS will evaluate your account, and if you're in good standing (i.e. no strikes or enforcement actions against your gamertag) then you will receive an invite from MS (not the original person who invited you.)

Again, as mentioned above, though - even if you have a spotless reputation, there's no 100% guarantee of getting into the program, it's an "at MS's discretion" kind of thing. If they do add you to the program, THEN you will receive an Xbox Message through
your console with a download code to redeem for the Preview Dashboard.

Now, the user above spoke with Phone Support and was told by a couple of different people that they could tell the MS invite with Download Code had definitely been sent to them. If you can verify with phone support that they have definitely added you to
the program, then I can post your tag to the Preview Forums and have them re-send your invite or code.

Unfortunately, if you know a friend has invited you, but that's as far as it goes, the only thing to do now is be patient and wait for another round of invites - and as far as that's concerned, there isn't a set time frame for when MS sends out new invites.

Hi, I received a message on my Xbox that I was invited to the Xbox Preview Program but I think I lost the message, I can't find it.

When searching for the app I can't seem to find it in the store either.

On Windows 10 Xbox App I can still see the message but can't tell the app to open the message on my Xbox One.

Can someone help?
