    Invalid Gamertag issue


    I'm trying to change my Hotmail password and it's asking me for my xbox gamertag. It is telling me my gamertag is invalid. It is NOT invalid as I've had it forever and used Xbox just last week. How can I find out what's going on?

    If you are sure that your gamertag is valid and you have been using it for a long time without problems, but now suddenly you get a message saying that it is invalid, there could be several reasons for this problem.

    Check spelling and capitalization Make sure you are entering your gamertag correctly, including correct spelling and capitalization. Xbox gamertags are case-sensitive, so make sure you enter them correctly.

    Check for restrictions or blocks. Your gamertag may have been flagged or identified as inappropriate or in violation of the Xbox Live terms of service. Check if you have received any type of notification or communication about this. If you believe an error has occurred, you can contact Xbox Support to investigate and resolve the issue.

    Check the status of your Xbox account Access your Xbox Live account through the Xbox website or the Xbox app on your device and check the status of your account. There may be a problem or block on your account that is causing the gamertag to be invalidated. If there are any issues, please contact Xbox Support for additional assistance.

    Gamertag Invalid?

    If you try to change your name to that and the system says it's taken, then it is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. Even if it doesn't show up as an Xbox gamertag, Microsoft uses the same tag system for other services such as Zune. The tag could also
    be spaced differently (such as "Hit man" instead) which the system would see as being the same tag).

    Delete your profile and download it again, it sounds like there may have been a corruption issue that effectively broken the link between your Xbox Live gamertag and the one stored on your console.

    It wasn't the phone support, it was through the chat service. but it is about a Gamertag that is invalid on the available list of GT's to be used, but it doesn't break the terms and conditions.
