    Invalid Format


    Why am I getting the Invalid Format message when I try to view screencaps of a Xbox One X optimised game (Far Cry 5) on a 4K TV that is confirmed fully compatible for all resolution types in the console Settings? All green ticks no Attention Needed flags.

    Invalid Format

    Why is my 4K TV showing a message reading, "Invalid Format," when I hook my Xbox One X up to it? I am unable to see anything on the screen but I hear the Xbox making sounds as if nothing is wrong when I scroll around the dashboard blindly. I have tried
    to factory reset the Xbox by using a thumb drive but no luck. Any suggestions?

    This has happened to me as well. Tried getting hold of Bungie but they have a wonderful system in place to make it impossible to actually speak to anyone there. I'm stuck. If anyone out there has a solution I'd be very grateful if they could let me know?
    (I tried the solution supplied by Kothos below but it didn't work for me. Thanks anyway, mate).

    Fixed it! Turns out it was the 3D setting and I don't have a 3D TV. How it glitched itself into that setting I'll never know, I didn't do it.

    But I logged in with an alternate account, memorised the stick and button moves to get to Settings and change the 3D option and it worked! Stupidest problem I have ever encountered in 18 years of working in IT.

    I updated my xbox one s all digital edition and changed the display, and now it will only display the invalid format message, I searched but only found solution for xbox one with disc, please help.
    Use auto detection

    Or go base 720p then go up from there

    Did you get any solution for this? I'm having the exact same problem. My xbox 360 is a Modern Warfare 3 one, seems like a strange coincidence.

    Only happens on this game, no other game!

    I've tried different HDMI ports and different cables but makes no difference.

    Have you tried connecting the Xbox to another hdmi socket, some TV's only have one hdmi socket that will work for 4K.
