Introduction to Microsoft accounts made me lose access to gamertag.

I have not used Xbox in almost 5 years and I started to think about getting back into it. The problem is that I no longer have access to my ~7 year old gamertag. I had first created an account with an email and later linked another email to it. I lost access
to the original email that the account was created with, but was still able to log on with the secondary email. When Microsoft accounts came to be it un-linked my accounts and make them separate. At first I have tried many times over the years to recover it,
but I don't remember what my middle school brain was thinking back then. I have chatted with support and even called them only to be given the run around and copy and paste responses. Only solution to them would be for me to still have my old 360 in my possession
which is really far fetched. I have emails dating back to 2010 on this account from Xbox to me and addressing me as my old gamertag with promotions and confirmations for prepaid points and subscriptions. All of the support people say that its impossible or
that this account was never linked to the other or that this account is only 4 years old. They also say that they would be able to release the gamertag to me, but its not about that. This is about maybe talking to friends that I have not spoken to or seen
in at least 5 years. I have screenshots of 7 year old emails from my inbox, but I don't know if I'm allowed to post them on here.

Hi Gore. If you switch Microsoft accounts on your gamertag, your games and purchases will stay attached to your gamertag. Therefore, you will not lose access to your purchases.
