Internet keeps going on and off

You would need to contact your ISP for issues with your connection since that would be an issue through your internet and not the Live service.

As far as games being patched, that is up to the publishers, not Microsoft. Generally (especially with Call of Duty games), the publishers stop supporting them once a new version gets released.

Solution 3: change the console sittings so it doesn't turn off automatically:

Solution 4: Preform a system reset to clear any corruption:
