Internet is working fine but xbox live is not

My xbox is connected to the internet however wont let me play games on live. The xbox status on the website says this

Internet is working but not Xbox Live

I too am having a similiar problem. I have BrightHouse Networks in the Tampa Bay Area(FL). I've done all the requested/required powerdowns, but still nothing. I contacted BHN(brighthouse) found out my upload speed is very slow, under 1mb, and xbox won't
let you on if you are under 1mb upload. So, on my second call to BHN, they told me many other nearby companies are experiencing some kind of major internet service problem. I mentioned "are we under internet attack by China again"? I don't know if it is
only in the southeast but I'm searching the internet (slowly!!) looking for similiar situations. USA could be under internet attack!

 

Internet is working but not Xbox Live

So this is my first time having the error message pop up on my T.V. it was working fine yesterday and now the error says, " You are connected to the internet but can't contact Xbox Live. Also says your router or ISP may be blocking access
to Xbox Live.

I did it said but still nothing.

normally you can do nothing if the Service is unavailable for you. This is a Service Problem of xbox live.

What you can test is: Use an alternate DNS Server. You can set it in Network Settings of your Router.

I would try open DNS:

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

www.opendns.com/.../opendns-ip-addresses

This way you get maybe other login Servers of xbox live an then can connect. If you change the DNS Servers in xbox one you should turn your xbox one off for 5 minuets (to delete the cached login servers) and you should restart your router to also delete
cached Versions of xbox live servers..

If you turn on your xbox then it will go to the new DNS Servers and maybe you get other xbox one login Servers.
