Internet disconnects whenever I remove or plug in an external HDD

Self explanatory, but my console is off when I do so (Xbox One S) I don't do it often for this reason

Gotcha. So removing the external HDD seems to fix this? Can you try plugging your external into another USB port on the console?

 

Wifi Connectivity issues when External Hard drive is plugged in

Today I tried connecting an external HDD to my Xbox One S (To install new games on It).

But immediately I got Internet connection Issues. I tried Unplugging my Modem..resetting it...etc.

Finally I found that Whenever external had drive is connected the internet connection is lost.

I unplugged my HDD n BOOM!!! Internet is black on!

Please help me get a solution to it.

I need to expand my storage via external HDD n get connected at the same time.

Hi Dark,

Thanks for your post. This sounds like a software related issue, to being troubleshooting try a soft factory reset. A soft factory reset removes profiles and resets the operating system to a more stable version. To do so follow the steps here:

Xbox One Factory Reset, and select the "Reset and keep my games & apps" option. Also be sure to keep your account information available to sign in with no trouble.

That's not good. Please try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down to see if that helps.

If it does not then you can try a factory reset. There's an option to keep installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them.

If all else fails it may be a fault in the console that needs to be repaired. You can set up a
repair at this link.

 

How exactly would i keep my account information? Bit of a vague statement sorry

 

I'm using my 5G internet as opposed to 2.4 G, I'm just curious as to why my console has to disconnect from the internet when an external HDD is removed (I repeat: regardless of whether the console is on or not) Anyone else have this issue? (I've set the
HDD for 'Media' if that helps) thanks for the feedback

What Ezra means is for you to have with you the information needed for signing into the account, i.e. the email alias and password as to not get locked out of the account, or make it more difficult through this process in case for instance an account recovery
has to occur.

I was using 2G but it didn't get any data back, no details or nothing; hence as to why I'm currently using 5G (It works fine but it took an hour until it worked and I had a friend over at the time)

Thank you, I did try any manner of resetting when the problem occured (Didn't change the outcome) Personally leaving format as a last resort should I never resolve the issue, I gave it time and that appeared to work although I had a friend over and it
wasted an hour of both our time
