Internet connection while updating

Hi. I have Automatic Updates enabled but I normally play games offline cause during daylight, my network connection sometimes acts up. If, let's say the console update is next week, but I turn my console to online mode to connect to XLive and I turn off
my console to Instant Mode, does it automatically do the updates itself? P.S. The best time to open back connection is night time cause it functions faster.

The best action would be once you go online open the guide go to settings, system and check for updates. Technically once you have auto update switched on and your console is in instant on, it should automatically update.

installing a game doesn't require an internet connection, only an update requires a internet connection. Ghosts you can start playing at 50% while its still installing.

i got it to work by uninstalled the games, then reinstalling them while the xbox was not connected to the internet, reconnected the internet after it was installed and then downloaded the updates
