    Microsoft should should remove region locks on codes, or implement a method for international gifting, or provide a service to exchange codes for the right region. Clearly this was not tested thoroughly enough.

    I just bought a Canadian friend a game via the marketplace buy as a gift option. Maybe you can get them a game instead (just a thought). Also there was an option on the 360 to gift money to friends but not sure if the option is still there. If you have a
    360 maybe you could go that route.

    Was your friend actually able to redeem the code? Gifting over Live is usually region locked.
