    Thanks for posting to the Xbox Forums.

    This is completely down to your preference and both are safe, viable options. It will use the same amount of data as if you were installing the games onto your Internal Hard Drive.

    It comes down to preference but external feels more convenient, especially if something happens with your internal hard drive.

    If the External HDD meet all the specs you can play the games directly without any trouble, now some games dont work properly on external HDD.

    all games work fine on external, i have over 450 games and no issues.
