    Is there a way to expand the internal storage in my Xbox One X I have a external hard drive but I'd like to be able to use quick resume for my extra games but that don't work if I have to unplug my external hard drive when I'm not using it

    Quick resume isn't a xbox one feature it's a series feature

    You can expand the internal memory in a series x by using the xbox storage cards

    As they are nvme

    You cannot use a mechanical or ssd drive

    An SSD provides more storage space not memory and yes you will be able to use it to store Xbox One and games for Xbox 360. Xbox Series X games are required to be on the internal SSD storage or the add on 1TB SSD storage that plugs into the unit.

    Have you verified there is plenty of free space on the Internal Storage drive? You can check under Settings > System > Storage.

    Of series s or x then it must be stored on internal nvme or storage card
