Discus and support Internal hard drive failure in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; My 500GB hard drive has failed two months after the warranty expired.     Internal hard drive failure


    My 500GB hard drive has failed two months after the warranty expired. I have formatted a new one with OSU1 files using Windows 10 but it will not load the interface without receiving system errors. I also tried manually installing update files via USB
    flash drive but without success. Has any had any success doing this after the December 2016 update?

    As an idea for xbox one hard drives because they are internal and not external try plugging in an external drive to save or transfer all important games to external hard drive and leave not so important games onto internal drive
    that way you can take them anywhere and not have hard drive failures with xbox one.

    so I apparently have a problem with my internal hard drive called hard drive failure and I read up on it and people say I have to take out the hard drive and replace it. But I was wondering if I could just take out the internal hard drive and just use my
    external 2tb as my main storage instead

    The issue you're describing seem like a failing hard drive or just a general hardware failure. Are your games running from the internal hdd or an external drive?

    Yeah, error E101 is not very descriptive

    But if you search videos or posts related to error E106, in some cases the error points to a failure in the internal hard drive (that can be fixed replacing it)

    Please don't revive threads from 4 years ago a lot has changed on the xbox one system OS so obviously information from 4 years ago is going to be out of date!

    update on USB not working

    Ok, you misunderstand me. The internal drive is simply a flash drive. It cannot be removed and can be susceptible to failure.

    An official Xbox hard drive comes in either 250GB, 320GB or 500GB sizes and would install on the right side of the console near the rear.

    Getting an official hard drive may solve the issue but, as I mentioned, the console may need to be repaired or replaced as well.
